"Broken" is the first EP released by Nine Inch Nails. It can be considered as the second studio album since it consists of new material.

"Broken" was originally released as a 2-Disc set. The first 200,000 copies included a 5" CD with six tracks, and a 3" CD with the two bonus tracks. When Trent discovered that some store owners would remove the mini-CD and sell it separately, the remaining copies of "Broken" were recalled.

After "Broken" was recalled, Trent changed the format. The six tracks on the 5" CD were placed as the first six tracks. The two bonus tracks that were on the 3" CD were placed as tracks 98 and 99. Tracks 7-97 were each 1-3 seconds of silence. "Broken" was later re-released with this format.
